As of September 30, 2008, Public Accountants Society of Colorado has raised
$13,150 for the scholarship fund in memory of William D. Eskew of
Springfield, Colorado.
Born
April 12,1935, Bill graduated from Springfield Colorado high school
beginning his professional career in Springfield where as a teenager
he found employment with the First National Bank. He received
his degree in history from Warmer Pacific College in Portland,
Oregon. Bill married Virginia Tague in 1954 and shared an
enduring, loving relationship for more than 52 years. There were two
children born of this marriage. Bill had a strong Christian faith
which he practiced everyday.
Bill was employed by Red Ball Freight in Pueblo, Colorado where he served
as accountant/office manager for over a decade. In the early 1970's Bill
established his own accounting firm in Colorado Springs and in 198 1 he
joined in partnership with Donald Jackson establishing the firm Jackson
Eskew Accounting Service. In 1984, his son Bruce Eskew, CPA joined the firm.
In 2000, Bill and his son Bruce established Eskew Accounting Service.
Bill was an Enrolled Agent. As a life member of the Public Accountants
Society of Colorado, he was given the Distinguished Service Award. As
President of the Public Accountants Society of Colorado in 1993-94 he was
recognized for "dedication and unselfish service". Bill monitored the State
Board of Accountancy. Bill served as the Colorado Director to the National
Society of Accountants. He was well-known, respected and trusted by his
business colleges and clients. He departed this life on March 17, 2007 and
leaves behind over 600 clients who will miss him for his wisdom, for his
generous gift of time and for his fair practices.
The William D. Eskew Memorial Scholarship Fund shall benefit the
College of Business
Accounting Scholarship Program at the University of Colorado at Colorado
Springs.
The Fund shall be used to provide need-based scholarship support for
undergraduate
students majoring in Accounting in accordance with these guidelines:
- Must be pursuing a degree in accounting.
- Must be a junior or senior in good academic standing with a minimum
cumulative
grade point average of 2.5.
- Must be willing to complete a written application that includes a
statement of
academic and career goals.
- The scholarship is based on demonstrated need and will be available
until fund is
depleted.
- The recipients will be selected by a committee comprised of the Dean
of the
College of Business and Administration, a representative from the Public
Accountants Society of Colorado, a representative from the University
Financial
Aid Department, and any others as agreed to by the Dean and Public
Accountants
Society of Colorado.
- The Scholarship Committee will coordinate with the Office of Financial
Aid to
distribute the funds to the recommended recipient(s).
- The number of awards is at the discretion of the Scholarship
Committee, with
consideration being given to the funding available.
- Scholarship awards will be for one academic year, and awardees may
reapply for
continued funding.
